Pieces of Home is a small, guided creative experience reflecting on the one-year anniversary of the
2025 Los Angeles wildfires.
Designed for those impacted by the fires, this project as part of our Hands that Heal program focuses on preserving meaningful memories and creating something to remember, while looking ahead to the new year and a new chapter.
Participants will create a personal art piece that reflects their version of home—what once was, what mattered most, and what they hope to bring with them. Part collage, part 3D quilt, each piece tells a personal story. Every artwork will be framed and ready to hang—a piece of home, reimagined for what comes next.

Get Creative!
Participants are welcome to bring small items that remind them of the home or neighborhood they lost, or that represent what home has meant to them. If you have special supplies you’d like to use, feel free to bring anything you want to include in your art piece. We suggest a mix of old and new—items you bring from home, paired with materials we’ll have on site to enhance your creative piece. Your artwork will be placed in a 12×12 shadow box.
If you don’t have personal items to bring, that’s completely okay. We will have additional supplies available to help you tell your story and create a piece that honors what home has meant to you and what you hope to carry forward.
